A CONCISE HISTORY OF SHANTI NAGAR
Shanti Nagar village is one of the villages which was established in 1916 by Salvation Army in the rule of British Government.
"Special efforts done by Commissioner Fredrick Booth Tucker. The name SHANTI NAGAR is on the name of Both Tuckers daughter Shanti-Bhai.
Salvation Army started religious and social work at the spot. Salvation Army started Dispensary for the first aid of people,
A prominent name Miss Vanenan served a lot of time in Dispensary.
Population is 99.99 percent Christian, shanti nagar village is the biggest village of Union council 23. In its surrounding there are 8 Muslims villages, Shanti Nagar is situated in khanewal Distt. at a distance of 50 miles from Multan Airport.
Shanti Nagar Canal was excavated in 1912-13 by British Govt. for cultivated purposes.
To full fill the educational needs of villagers Salvation Army established a Primary School in 1917-18 and start classes in Church Building to quench the thirst of knowledge of people, then to facilitate students from other areas Salvation Army established a Boys Hostel in
Shanti Nagar. School was up graded to middle standard in 1949, then showing sympathy to the demands of people school was up graded to High School in 1962-63 and shifted in a wonderful building.
Post Office was established in 1922 for the correspondence of Salvation Army office in Shanti Nagar and for correspondence of the people.
Pre-partition there were some Hindu families in Shanti Nagar, after creation of Pakistan they migrated to India.
To facilitate the people, Electricity was provided in 14-12-1962 by the special efforts of Major Hunter sb.
Due to the increase of population, people started to settle on a nearby Sand Hill in 1972-1980 and got owners right under
Bhutto’s reforms and this colony called Tiba Colony Shanti Nagar.
A branch of National Bank of Pakistan was opened in 26-12-1973 by the special efforts of Mr. Arshad Fida.
SHANTI NAGAR was burnt by Muslim Extremists in 06-02-1997, this Incident was a result of prejudice attitude towards the Christians of Pakistan.
In this Incident Christians of Shanti Nagar lost their precious household, livestock, property and all kinds of accessories.
But by the hand of Almighty God there was no lose of any person.
For the rehabilitation of homeless peoples, Church World Service established a new colony in village Shanti Nagar in 1997-1998.
To increase the beauty of front location of Shanti Nagar, there built a BAB_E_SHANTI NAGAR in 23-04-2008 at entrance of village
by the special efforts of Mr.Haroon Kalvin Gill.
At the present there are 14 Denominations are working in shanti nagar, These are Prominent Denominations, SALVATION ARMY,UGA,
FGA, AOG, Catholic, Yahawa Nasi, FCC.
A prophet of India Sadhu Sundar Singh Sawami visited Shanti Nagar,
Br. Bakhat Singh and Pastor Wilson Alliat did a Mirclous work in Shanti Nagar.
Since 1938 Master Jackob Labhuo is serving as a Brass Band Master and trained near about 210 students.
To up lift the Social and Educational status of Shanti Nagar
Mr.Pervaiz Henry Gill, Dr.Izzat Jamal and Ps.Robinsan Abid did unforgettable work.
Mr.Pervaiz Henry served poor patience of Eye by giving operation service freely.
